THE TEAM

Alexander Thomson-Payan President and Founder

Alexander founded TGI in 2007 following his successful launch of Electrix Telecom the previous year. Electrix is now one of the largest importers, distributors and retailers of mobile phone products in Angola, and it expanded operations into Zimbabwe and Mozambique in late 2013. Alexander has since led TGI to launch three other multi-million dollar businesses in the petroleum services, real estate and construction sectors. Forbes Magazine featured his entrepreneurial activities in September of 2012 and Bloomberg News did so in February of 2014. Alexander formally worked for Brightstar Corp., the world’s largest distributor of mobile phones, as chief of staff to founder & CEO Marcelo Claure and senior new business development manager. Alex is fluent in English, Portuguese, Spanish, French and Mandarin Chinese. He earned a Bachelor of Science in finance and entrepreneurship from Babson College in Massachusetts, USA.

João Rêgo COO

JOAO REGO is TGI’s Chief Operations Officer. Before joining the team Joao was the Senior Management Consultant for DeteconConsulting, Deutsche Telekom Group for Angola Telecom. There, for the past two years he lead his team in the restructuring of the Commercial department by defining, developing, training and launching the different proposed areas, which accounted for more than 300 employees. Before that he worked in Portugal in various sectors : oil, banking, insurance, telecommunications, TV, pharmaceutical and health.

CARLOS FERNANDES COUNTRY DIRECTOR

Carlos manages TGI’s operations and a team of more than 50 employees. An Angolan citizen, Carlos came to TGI in 2010 after a decade in the petroleum industry with British Petroleum (BP). Carlos plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations of TGI´s subsidiaries. He is fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish. Carlos earned a postgraduate degree in business administration from Okwin Business School in Luanda, Angola.
